On Thursday, May 23, the French Open 2024 draw was announced wherein the 14-time champion Rafael Nadal is set to face Alexander Zverev in a repeat of their semi-final clash two years ago. The defending French Open champion, Novak Djokovic, is also in the same half of the draw alongside Rafael Nadal, which could lead to a potential semi-final match between two of the greatest players in tennis.
The 2022 edition of the French Open saw Alexander Zverev give a walkover to Rafael Nadal after suffering an ankle injury, which he will be looking to put behind with a quality performance this summer. Their highly pulsating semi-final contest ended abruptly at the Roland Garros when Nadal was ahead 7-6, 6-6 against Zverev two years ago.
The world number one, Novak Djokovic, will be taking on Pierre-Hugues Herbert in round one, while Jannik Sinner, the second seed at the French Open, will be playing against Christopher Eubanks. The Indian Sumit Nagal, who qualified through to the main draw at the Roland Garros after his impressive performances in the clay court season, will be taking on the Russian Karen Khachanov in round one.
Sabalenka vs Erika Andreeva; Swiatek to take on qualifier/lucky loser
In the women’s singles draw of the French Open, the world number one and the defending champion, Iga Swiatek, will be getting a qualifier/lucky loser in the first round. On the other side of the draw, Aryna Sabalenka, the world number two, will take on Erika Andreeva to kick off her campaign at the Roland Garros.
The French Open 2024 will kick off on Sunday, May 26, with the first round of matches in all five different events for men and women.
