During the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati missed out on a medal due to a massive malfunction which took place during his event. Anthony, who was competing in front of a home packed crowd at the Stade de France on Saturday, August 3, missed a place in the final of men’s pole vault after he missed a place by a few inches.

Yes, you read it right. The 21-year-old pole vaulter, missed by just whiskers after his crotch hit the bar in the second of the three failed attempts at the 5.70m. However, he missed by a margin, the video of Anthony Ammirati has been doing rounds on social media.

Although the French athlete was gutted, but the knock seemed to have hit him hard, leaving him in pain while landing on the mat. It is to be noted that Anthony is not the first pole vaulter to suffer this. Earlier at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Japan’s Jiroki Ogita had also made the headlines after his private parts hit the bar after he dislodged it with his legs. 

The 21-year-old failed to clear the 5.70m vault mark in his three attempts and eventually crashed out of the 31-man event, finishing at 15th place. The top 12 athletes qualify for the final of the event at the Summer Games.
