With Team India struggling in the middle during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, things seemed to be not in a good mood in the Indian dressing room at the moment. With only one Test to go and India needing a win to draw the five-match series and retain the BGT title, the Men in Blue are reportedly at crossroads with Head Coach Gautam Gambhir.

With pressure mounting on the visitors, including the Head Coach, it is being reportedly that Gautam Gambhir lost his cool in the dressing room, lashing out his anger on the players. It is to be noted that apart from Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar, none of the Indian players could make much of an impact, losing the fourth Test by 184 runs.

Bahut ho gaya: Gambhir lashes out at India players after defeat in 4th BGT Test

According to reports making waves on social media, citing The Indian Express, former India cricketer turned head coach, Gautam Gambhir vented out his frustration in the Indian dressing room after the results of the fourth BGT Test did not end in their favour. "Bahut ho gaya (I've had enough)," Gambhir told the Indian team soon after the players' returned to the dressing room after MCG loss, as per Indian Express. Moreover, the report also adds that he is annoyed with the way certain players conducted themselves on the ground.

As per a statement quoted by NDTV Sports, “Gambhir is said to have told the players that he gave them 6 months to play 'their way' but it all stops now. From now onwards those who don't play according to the plans set by him for the team, will be shown the exit door.” This mounts to the concerns with reports also adding that Gambhir wanted Cheteshwar Pujara to play BGT 2024-25, but the BCCI selectors weren’t in sync with him.

Under Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as Head Coach, the Indian cricket team has had some astonishing results, including the ODI series loss against Sri Lanka and the series whitewash against New Zealand in Test. They are now on the brink of missing the World Test Championship final spot if they lose the final Test in Sydney, which is set to be played from January 3 to 7.
