With the second Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series just days away from start, Head Coach Gautam Gambhir is all set to rejoin the Indian team in Australia on Tuesday, December 3.  However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation in regard to the same from the Indian team management or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), but the development follows after the former Indian cricketer had returned to the country after first Test in Perth.

According to several media reports, Gambhir has flown back to Australia and will join the side in Adelaide on Tuesday ahead of the second Test, which is set to be played from December 6 onwards at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

Gautam Gambhir to join Team India in Adelaide on Tuesday

It is to be noted that Gambhir had returned home for personal reasons following Team India’s dominating win over Australia by 295 runs in Perth. He was also absent from the two-day warm-up match against Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra, where the team was closely looked by Assistant Coach Abhishek Nayar. “Gambhir has informed us that he will be travelling back home and will join the team before the start of the second Test. He has cited personal reasons and the BCCI has accepted his request,” a source had informed, as quoted by The Indian Express.

With the return of Gambhir Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill all fit and available for the remainder of the series down under, the Indian management will have a tough task to finalise their playing XI for the pink-ball day-night Test in Adelaide. However, the two are an obvious inclusion, it has to be seen who sits out and what changes would India make to continue their dominant run in the tournament.
