Rohit Sharma-led Team India recently lifted the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 title, beating New Zealand in the summit clash by four wickets at the Dubai International cricket Stadium in Dubai. With this win, India not only became the first team to win three Champions trophy titles, but also lifted their seventh ICC title, which is second most after Australia.
However, the Men in Blue have no international commitments for next couple of months, but head coach Gautam Gambhir already has his eyes set on the upcoming fixtures. It is to be noted that Team India will next play England in a five-match Test series, starting late June after they failed to qualify for the World Test Championship 2025 final.
Gautam Gambhir to travel to England with India A squad: Reports
Seeing their next assignment as the Test series, a report in TOI has claimed that Gambhir has decided to travel with the India A team to England. This comes seeing that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t have a designated coach for the developmental sides. Moreover, the reports add that Gambhir has been working on the roadmap across formats.
“Gambhir has been in discussions with the BCCI since he returned from Australia. He has expressed his desire to travel with India A team to get a clearer view of the reserve pool,” a BCCI source told, as quoted by TOI . “With India winning the Champions Trophy after Gambhir’s insistence for certain wild card players, one may expect him to assert more in future,” the source added.
In another side, after Rahul Dravid assumed the role of India’s head coach, for India A and U-19 assignments, the BCCI rotated coaches from the pool at NCA. But if Gambhir travels with India A side, it will be the first time the senior men’s team coach will be accompanying an India A side on a tour.
