Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant pin-pointed a major difference between the approach of former India coach Rahul Dravid and current coach Gautam Gambhir. Notably, Dravid’s tenure as team India’s head coach  came to an end after the side's win in the T20 World Cup 2024. Following his departure, former India opener Gautam Gambhir took reins and succeeded Dravid. Gambhir’s coaching journey started on a positive note with a 3-0 sweep over Sri Lanka in the T20I series.

Not only this, but he also took a few decisions to mark the new era in Indian cricket, including Suryakumar Yadav’s appointment as the new T20I coach. Rishabh Pant, who was part of the Sri Lanka tour shared his insights on working under Gambhir’s leadership. Pant, who is currently representing India B in the Duleep Trophy, reflected on the coaching style and approaches of both Dravid and Gambhir.

Gauti Bhai is one-sided: Rishabh Pant on difference between Dravid and Gambhir

Rishabh Pant told JioCinema that while Dravid's approach was more balanced, which might have its own positives and negatives, Gambhir is more inclined towards winning a game. The 26-year-old was quoted by JioCinema as saying, “I feel Rahul bhai was very balanced as a human being and as a coach. It could be both good and bad. There are positives and negatives, and it depends on where individuals want to focus. Gauti bhai (Gambhir) is more aggressive, he's very one-sided about the fact that you have to win. But you need to find the right balance and improve,”

The margin between winning and losing is very small: Rishabh Pant ahead of BGT 2024

Rishabh Pant also spoke about his mindset when representing India on the international stage and said that pressure is always there. Not only this, but the batter also showed some positive signs ahead of the forthcoming BGT 2024. Pant told JioCinema, “I believe the pressure will always be there because, in international cricket, you can’t take any series lightly.” He added, “The margin between winning and losing is very small, and nowadays, the gap between international teams isn’t much either. However, we have to give our hundred per cent regardless, and that mindset has worked well for me so far.”
