Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen on Tuesday, December 3 took to social media to share a piece of advice for young India cricketer Prithvi Shaw. The 25-year-old, whose career has been in a downward spiral off late, was once again in the limelight after he failed to get an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract at the mega auction last month and followed it with a dismal outing in the ongoing domestic tournament.

Once considered to be the next big thing in Indian cricketer after matching the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and other greats at a very young age, he has been on and off the field, leading to his elongated stay outside of cricket lately. Seeing this, former England cricketer shared some advice, hoping he might come out good if he takes stern steps.

Kevin Pietersen shares stern social media warning to struggling Prithvi Shaw

Shaw, who has been in the eyes due to his several wrongdoings, after being snubbed from an IPL contract for the first time since the start of the tournament in 2008, has also received a lot of criticism for his behaviour and fitness. Seeing the ongoing discussion, KP took to X to guide the Indian youngster.

“Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long term success, they’d sit him down, tell him to get off social media and train his absolute backside off in getting super fit. It’ll get him back into the correct path where past success can return. Too talented to throw it all away. Love KP!,” he captioned a post on his X account.

The India batter was recently dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team for being overweight. However, after undergoing his fitness sessions, he is back, featuring in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. His poor run-of-form continued in SMAT as he got out for a duck in Mumbai’s Group E game against Services. So far, he has scored 96 runs from five matches at an average of 19.20 and a strike rate of 137.14.
