Ghoomer is a sports drama film that releases on August 18, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles. The film is directed by R. Balki and produced by Hope Productions. The movie is based on the real-life events of Károly Takács, a Hungarian shooter who won two Olympic gold medals with his left hand after losing his right hand in an accident.
Saiyami Kher portrays Anina Dixit in the movie Ghoomer, a young cricket prodigy who endures a similar catastrophe and must reinvent herself as a one-handed bowler with the aid of former cricketer Paddy (Abhishek Bachchan). The movie tells a moving and stirring story of human courage, strength, and triumph over adversity. The film directed by R Balki received high accolades from the film and cricket communities before its release.

India’s former explosive opener, Virender Sehwag, heaped praise on the film, especially for Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan’s performances. In a video posted on Twitter, Sehwag said, “I don’t usually respect spinners, but the Ghoomer that Saiyami Kher has bowled is unparalleled”. Talking about Abhishek Bachchan, he said, “I did not listen to my coach either, but Abhishek Bachchan has acted in such a way that you will feel like listening to him.”
The voice of cricket, Harsha Bhogle, also watched the film and posted his review on Twitter. Talking about Kher, he said that she took the character to another level. He claimed that he was overjoyed after watching her cricket scenes, as she aced them perfectly. He further added, "I loved the way Abhishek married into the character, and he was outstanding, especially in the first half. I loved the movie from the cricketing aspect."
Another cricketer, also India’s Test vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane, posted his views about the movie on Twitter.
In a video, he said, I recently watched Ghoomer, and I really liked it. It was a very inspirational and motivating movie. Saiyami Kher’s character was really good, she did really well in the movie. I know how challenging it is to bowl with your left hand when you are a right-hander, so I thought she did really well.”
“Abhishek Bachchan was really good too. R Balki has directed the movie really well too,” Rahane added further.
