The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are talking on England in the five-match Test. However, the series stand 2-1 in favour of Rohit Sharma & co., the fourth Test also stands in favour of the hosts with Team India needing less than 100 runs to win and clinch the series.
In the ongoing Ranchi Test, it has been wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who has starred, scoring a 90 off 149 deliveries in the Indian first inning. The young UP-born cricketer got several eyeballs, which included the likes of legend Sunil Gavaskar. Speaking after the 23-year-old reached his maiden Test 50, Sunil Gavaskar heaped praise on the wicketkeeper-batter, hailing him as the “next MS Dhoni in the making”.
“Of course he has batted well, but his keeping, his work behind the stumps has been equally brilliant. Just by looking at his game awareness, I want to say that he is another MS Dhoni in the making. I know there can never be another MSD but you know the presence of mind that he has, MSD also when he started, it was that. And Jurel has that game awareness,” Gavaskar said. On being told about his comparison with MS Dhoni at the post-day press conference, Dhruv Jurel said, “Obviously it’s a good feeling to hear a legend like Sunil Gavaskar talk about me. The mood was great, there were no specific instructions … just to go out and play. Watch the ball and play. Just that the long I play the better it is.”
Speaking on missing a hundred, the 23-year-old said, “I don’t regret a bit on missing the hundred. It’s my debut Test series. I’m just desperate to lift this trophy in my hand. It’s always a childhood dream to play for India in Tests,” he said.
