Veteran Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has announced that he will be parting ways with Jharkhand for the 2022-23 domestic season. Aaron has been a mainstay in the state squad since he made his debut for Jharkhand in 2008 and grew into becoming one of the spearheads of the bowling attack. Aaron al s o led Jharkhand in the absence of MS Dhoni, before Ishan Kishan was made the captain.
Aaron made this announcement through an emotional post on Instagram where he expressed that he would bid farewell to a team where he has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and made some incredible friends and experienced loads of emotions from the happiness of victories to the disappointment of losses.
Aaron also revealed that he would be joining Baroda from this season onwards. The post said, “Goodbyes are never easy!! I find it incredibly hard to put down my feelings as I walk away from what’s been a huge part of my life, The Jharkhand Cricket Team.”
“I have decided to part ways and move on to play for Baroda in the upcoming domestic season. Leaving behind a journey that has been instrumental in my evolution as a Cricketer and Human. Friends, brothers, the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, incredible victories, crushing defeats, blood, sweat, tears and a few broken bones along the way .. if I had a chance to rewind the last 18 years, I would and do it the exact same way.”
“I’m eternally grateful to all my teammates, coaches, ground and office staff, and all the people in the state who have helped me in the quest of achieving my dreams, dreams which I continue to chase as I go on to represent Baroda. A special thanks to the Late Amithab Choudhary and Rajesh Verma who have been the two pillars of the JSCA. Wishing all my boys in the Jharkhand team the best for all that lies ahead”, said Aaron.
Aaron is not the first player to transfer to a new domestic side this season as veteran India and Bengal wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha joined Tripura as player-cum-mentor. Similarly, the Mumbai duo of Siddesh Lad and Arjun Tendulkar joined Goa. Another Mumbai veteran, Aditya Tare left to join Uttarakhand.
