Punjab Kings, on the back of Shashank Singh's incredible knock, took down Gujarat Titans in a seven-wicket victory. This was the Titans' first home loss of the 2024 season as they had defeated Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahemadabad. With this performance, Punjab also got back to winning ways as they suffered two back-to-back defeats against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Lucknow Super Giants.
After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans started with the bat and lost the in-form Wriddhiman Saha cheaply. But captain Shubman Gill stitched up crucial partnerships with Kane Williamson, Sai Sudharshan and Rahul Tewatia to help post a competitive 199-run total. Gill top-scored with an 89-run knock which included six fours and four sixes.
Then in the second innings, Punjab Kings also had a difficult start as Umesh Yadav cleaned up Shikhar Dhawan with the first ball of his spell. But quality knocks from Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow got Punjab back into the game before Noor Ahmed struck twice to turn the game around.
From this point forward, Shashank Singh held one end up and built crucial stands with Jitesh Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma to carry the Kings over the finish line. Singh ended the game with a score of 61 in 29 balls with six fours and four sixes.
