Will Jacks played a match-winning knock of 100* runs to guide RCB to their third win of IPL 2024. Gujarat Titans hosted Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 45th clash of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Gujarat came on the back of a four-run defeat against Delhi Capitals, whereas Bengaluru defeated SunRisers Hyderabad by a margin of 35 runs in their last game.
The Sunday clash saw visiting captain Faf du Plessis winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Home favourites got off to a shaky start as they lost openers Wriddhiman Saha and skipper Shubman Gill on five (4) and 16 (19) respectively. However, Sai Sudharshan’s 84* off 49 along with Shahrukh Khan’s 58 off 30 got the side some stability and helped them put a decent 200-run score on the board.
In the second innings, RCB got off to a decent start, as opener Faf du Plessis hit some mammoth shots to land the ball directly among the spectators. However, just when the RCB skipper started coming off to be dangerous, Sai Kishore’s delivery forced him to walk back to the pavilion. However, batting wizard Virat Kohli and Will Jacks took the steering in their hands and played destructive knocks to guide the side to an easy win.
Kohli crossed the 500-run mark in IPL 2024 and remained not out on 70 runs while Will Jacks completed his maiden IPL century with a brilliant six. With this, Jacks guided RCB to their second consecutive and third overall win in the IPL 2024 to keep them afloat in the season.
