On the latest episode of the Club Prairie Fire podcast, the former Australian cricketer, Adam Gilchrist sarcastically asked Rohit Sharma about whether the “youngsters” MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik will fly to the Caribbean and the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024 after impactful performances in the ongoing season of the IPL. In response, the captain of the Indian cricket team hilariously remarked that it would be hard to convince MS Dhoni, unlike Dinesh Karthik.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rohit Sharma has been one of the top performers with the bat in Mumbai Indians colours after he was replaced in the captaincy role by Hardik Pandya. During their previous match against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma scored a hundred but he was unable to take his team over the finishing line.
During Rohit Sharma’s appearance on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, Adam Gilchrist said to him, “Everyone speculating on which Indian is gonna get a boarding pass out to the Caribbean. The keeper-batsman role is, to an extent, up for grabs, an amazing amount of young keeper-batsman at your disposal to pick from, and I reckon the two standouts, two real youngsters who are shining, who I reckon they both gonna have a big future when they grow up, get a bit older, and a bit mature, Dinesh Karthik and MSD. Mate, I reckon they are gonna be great players when they grow up.”
MS Dhoni made eventual difference in CSK’s win over MI, says Rohit Sharma
During his Club Prairie Fire podcast appearance, Rohit Sharma gave props to MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik for their impactful batting performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 36-year-old remarked that he was quite impressed with MS Dhoni’s 20 runs off four balls for CSK against MI, which proved to be the eventual difference between both teams.
“I was quite impressed, especially with Dinesh Karthik, the way he batted a couple of nights back, and Dhoni as well, I mean look, he came to play four balls, made a huge impact, got those 20-22 runs, and that was eventually the difference in the end. It’ll be hard to convince MSD for sure, to come to West Indies, I guess…. DK will be easy to convince, I guess,” remarked Rohit Sharma.
