After losing the first ODI of the three-match series, India hosted Australia in the second ODI at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On winning the toss, the Australian skipper, Alyssa Healy, decided to bat first. While the Aussies were into the 25th over, Rana and Vastrakar went for the same ball and collided due to the lack of communication. The impact of the hit was quite intense, and the 29-year-old was seen lying on the ground. Immediate medical aid was called for both the players, and Rana walked off the field.
Later, the BCCI shared an update stating that Rana was taken to the hospital and Harleen Deol was named her concussion substitute. The BCCI tweeted, “Sneh Rana complained of a headache after a collision while fielding during the second ODI against Australia. She has been taken for scans and she will not take any further part in the ongoing ODI. Harleen Deol has been named as a concussion substitute.”

According to the concussion rules by the ICC, the teams can only make like-to-like substitutions. Hence as a batter is ruled out due to concussion, a team can only bring in as a substitute. Still, if the team brings in the all-rounder, they might not be allowed to ball.
