Harsha Bhogle, one of the most esteemed cricket commentators in India, had a major blunder on live broadcast as he called out Hrithik Shokeen’s name as Hrithik Roshan. The moment happened at the end of the innings for Mumbai Indians in their Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League 2023.
For those who aren’t aware, Hrithik Roshan is a famous Bollywood actor, who has been in the movies for over 20 long years, while Hrithik Shokeen is a young off-spin bowler, who has been a part of MI for the last two seasons of the tournament. The obvious similarity between the first names of both gentlemen must have caused the slip of tongue in all likelihood as far as Harsha Bhogle is concerned.
Meanwhile, at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24, the captain of Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat first against Lucknow Super Giants in a must win encounter to stay in the tournament. He and Ishan Kishan gave their side a decent start at the top of the order with a 30-run opening stand, but they got dismissed in quick succession shortly afterwards.
Then, two of the most prolific batters for Mumbai in this year’s IPL, namely Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green put together a partnership of 66 runs in 6.2 overs. But when Naveen-ul-Haq of LSG got both their wickets within three deliveries, the match got decently poised once again.
Lucknow Super Giants kept on chipping away at the wickets to restrict Mumbai Indians to a score of 182/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur were the pick of the bowlers for the Super Giants as they shared seven wickets between them.
