Fast bowler Harshit Rana and middle-order batter Nitish Rana came in support of Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, after Manoj Tiwary called him out for his ‘hypocrisy.’ Notably, Gambhir’s former Kolkata Knight Riders teammate Tiwary slammed Indian head coach after India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years. The former cricketer also criticised Gambhir for including Morne Morkel and Abhishek Nayar in the coaching staff. However, Harshit and Nitish, who were a part of KKR squad in IPL 2024, came in support of their former mentor and took an indirect dig at Manoj Tiwary.
After Manoj Tiwary’s controversial statement on Gautam Gambhir, Nitish Rana shared a post on his social media where he came in support of format KKR mentor and said that he doesn’t need any PR. “Criticism should be based on facts not personal insecurities. Gauti bhaiyya is one of the most selfless players I’ve ever met. He shoulders responsibility in times of distress like no other. Performance doesn’t need any PR. The trophies speak for themselves,” Nitish wrote on his X.
Criticising someone due to personal insecurities…: Harshit Rana indirectly calls out Manoj Tiwary for remarks against Gautam Gambhir
Apart from Nitish Rana, Harshit Rana also shared a story on his Instagram handle where he took an indirect dig at Manoj Tiwary for his ‘hypocrisy’ remark against Gautam Gambhir. Harshit had a good IPL season under Gambhir’s mentorship in 2024 where he scalped 19 wickets in 13 matches. Apart from that, the fast bowler also got to make his Test debut in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under with Gambhir as head coach.
“Critcising someone due to personal insecurities is not good. Gauti bhaiya is someone who thinks more for others than himself. He always backs players when they are down and put them in limelight when things go our way. He has shown this on multiple occasions. He has a lot of knowledge on how to turn games in your favor,” Harshit Rana wrote on his Insta story.
