During the third session on day one of the first Test match, the Bangladesh fast bowler, Hasan Mahmud collided with Ravindra Jadeja after making a strong appeal to the on-field umpire for the lbw dismissal, which was given in his favour. Moments later, both the players, who had hit the ground, got onto their feet before Mahmud apologised to Jadeja and patted him on his back in a warm embrace, following which the DRS showed that the Indian batter was not out.
The incident happened in the 50th over of the Indian innings when Hasan Mahmud bowled a beautiful inswinger from round the wicket, catching Ravindra Jadeja on the crease. After the on-field umpire Rod Tucker gave Jadeja his marching orders, the Indian batter had a collision with Mahmud, which was harmless in nature, prior to both the players seeing the funny side of it.
Ravindra Jadeja smashed Hasan Mahmud for six a ball prior
Following that, the technology showed an inside edge off the bat of Ravindra Jadeja before the ball hit his pad, which meant that the third umpire recommended the on-field umpire to change his decision, allowing the left-handed batter to continue his innings. Just a ball earlier, Hasan Mahmud had bowled a short delivery from round the wicket, Ravindra Jadeja smashed it over the deep square leg boundary for a thumping maximum, which landed in the grandstand at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Moreover, when Ravindra Jadeja was joined by Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease, India’s first innings score was 144/6 in the second session on day one of the first Test match against Bangladesh. The Indian all-rounders found a way to build a fantastic 114-run unbeaten stand, to not only resurrect the team’s innings, but put them in a decent position in the latter stage of the third session on day one.
With the pitch providing assistance to the pacers, any total in excess of 300 could prove to be a very good one as far as the Indian cricket team is concerned in Chennai.
