South African legendary batsman Hashim Amla on Wednesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Amla played his last international match in the 2019 World Cup match against Sri Lanka. He played 349 international matches for South Africa and scored 18,672 runs across all three formats of the game. Amla was recognised as one of the finest players to have represented the Proteas.

1. Hashim Amla remains to be the only South African batsman to smash a Triple hundred in Test cricket. Hashim Amla is 2nd highest run-scorer in Tests for South Africa only behind Jacques Kallis
2. Hashim Amla holds the record for being fastest to reach 2000 (40 inn), 3000 (57 inn), 4000 (81 inn), 5000 (101 inn) runs, 6000 runs (123 inn) & 7000 runs (150 inn) in ODIs. Hashim Amla is 2nd highest run-scorer for South Africa in ODIs only behind AB de Villiers.
3. Hashim Amla holds the record for being the fastest to reach 18, 19, 20, 21, 22,....27 ODI hundreds in least number of innings. Overall Amla has 27 ODI hundreds which is 6th most for a player after Sachin Tendulkar (49), Virat Kohli (46), Ricky Ponting (30), Rohit Sharma (29) & Sanath Jayasuriya (28).
4. Hashim Amla has won 7 player of series awards in ODIs which is 2nd most for a South African player after Shaun Pollock who has 9 player of the Series award in ODIs.
5. Hashim Amla has smashed two tons for Punjab Kings in IPL 2017. Amla played just 16 games in IPL but in a short career he made for himself by scoring 577 runs at average of 44.38 which comprised of two centuries as well at a strike rate of 141.77.
6. Hashim Amla lead South Africa in 14 Test matches from 2014-16 period and also lead his side in 9 ODI & 2 T20I games. Hashim Amla holds the record for being involved 2nd highest 3rd wicket partnership in ODI history with Rilee Rossouw.
