The United States of America’s cricket sensation Saurabh Netravalkar has made a name for himself in both India and USA with his brilliant bowling spell in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The left-arm fast bowler from India who plays for the USA, outsmarted Pakistan and helped his side register their first victory in maiden World Cup fixture in a Super Over. Netravalkar represented India in the Under 19 World Cup and shared dressing room with the likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel and Sandeep Sharma.
However, he later moved to the States to pursue his job as a Software engineer. Currently working for tech giants Oracle, Netravalkar fulfilled his dream to play international cricket, for USA if not for India. Saurabh’s sister Nidhi opened up on how the cricketer still manages his job and work while playing cricket, shuffling different roles. Nidhi told CricketNext, “He’s been very fortunate to have people who have always supported him throughout his career.”
She added, “He knows that when he’s not playing cricket, he has to give 100 per cent to the job. So right now, when he’s working, he carries his laptop everywhere. And he has the freedom to work from anywhere. Even when he comes to India, he brings his laptop. He’s working. So after the match in the hotel, he’s doing his work. He is pretty dedicated like that.”
Nidhi went on to say, “This is something which is like that Mumbaikarness in him, which is always there, this whole hustle culture in us. You can’t just take it out. You know, like all of us, like since the beginning, when he used to travel to Churchgate for his training on the train, he was to do his homework. He played cricket but also studied well and topped in his class. He’s always had two careers in my perspective.”
