After a humiliating 0-2 defeat against Bangladesh, Pakistan are now scheduled to host three Test matches against England starting on October 7. Before the series, Pakistan’s Test skipper, Shan Masood defended Babar Azam after a poor form in international cricket in recent times. Masood said that he doesn't believe that Babar is out of form. Notably, Babar isn’t looking in good touch in Test cricket for Pakistan. The right-hander has scored 317 runs in the last eight Tests at an average of 21.13, with his highest score being 41 runs.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Test series against England, Shan Masood said that Babar Azam is getting a good start, and also showed great form in the recently ended Champions One Day Cup. "Babar is among the world's best batters. You have to give your players time, not just Babar. Babar does not look out of form, he is getting starts. There was a 10-month gap between the Australia and Bangladesh Tests, which does not help us,” Masood was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
I have no complaints regarding unity: Shan Masood
Speaking at the press conference, skipper Shan Masood denied all the rumors regarding lack of unity among the players of the Pakistani cricket team. Masood agreed that the team needs to improve in some of the aspects, but he didn’t find any issue in the unity among the players. Pakistan will take on England in the first Test, starting on October 7 at Multan Cricket Stadium.
"Every captain has their own style. I focus on keeping the environment in the dressing room well; that is my primary concern. I have never seen a lack of unity or effort by the boys. There are some cricketing aspects to how we need to improve, but I have no complaints regarding unity," Shan Masood said.
