The captain of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya, revealed a shocking health update of Yash Dayal following the brutal last over against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He said that the left-arm fast bowler fell ill and lost 7-8 kilograms o f weight after the match. The all-rounder also couldn’t confirm whether or not Yash Dayal will play for GT in the remaining matches of this year’s IPL.

It was the final over of the contest when stand-in skipper Rashid Khan gave Yash Dayal the responsibility of defending 28 runs. With 5 deliveries left in the innings, Rinku Singh, his fellow UP teammate got the strike and smashed him for 5 consecutive sixes to pull out the unlikeliest of wins for Kolkata Knight Riders from the jaws of defeat. Dayal was inconsolable at that very moment and he hasn’t taken part in any of the forthcoming matches for Gujarat Titans thus far.

While speaking with Star Sports in the build-up to their previous match at home against Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya stated the following about Yash Dayal’s condition. “I can’t confirm that (on his chances of Yash Dayal playing again this IPL season). He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It is going to take a long time before we see him on the field,” Hardik Pandya said.

Gujarat Titans are currently in second place on the IPL 2023 points table behind Chennai Super Kings on NRR after attaining their fifth win in seven matches on April 25. They defeated Mumbai Indians comprehensively by 55 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
