Ruturaj Gaikwad, the opening batsman for the Chennai Super Kings, has received praise from renowned Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, who claims that he has a promising future ahead of him. At Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by a margin of five wickets to win the IPL 2023 championship.

Gaikwad has been an integral part of the CSK set-up over the last three seasons. He played a very crucial role in CSK’s title-winning runs in 2021 and 2023. Speaking about the 2023 season, Gaikwad scored 590 runs at an impeccable strike rate of 147.50. He gave numerous quick starts to CSK along with Kiwi Devon Conway throughout the course of the tournament. He was also superb in the field as he took the most catches in the season.

“He came up with an excellent performance under pressure. The plus with him is that he is physically very fit. He is a very good fielder and is young as well. Gaikwad has a bright future when it comes to Indian cricket as well as the franchises he plays for,” said Akram while speaking in an interaction with Sportskeeda.

Recently Ruturaj Gaikwad was selected as a reserve in India’s squad for the World Test Championship Final, but he had to withdraw from it due to his marriage. The batter is expected to get married on June 3. Yashasvi Jaiswal was named as his replacement in the reserves.
