Basketball star Ja Morant's father Tee Morant defended his son and slammed the critics for labelling him as a "black sheep" or a "bad egg". The Memphis Grizzlies had a rough 2023 season, where he was suspended by the NBA twice, dealt with a lawsuit, and received a 25-game ban. Ja Morant’s father defended his son and shared with the fans what his son is like. Morant said that Ja is a family-oriented person and is working his best to come up as a respectable guy. Tee added that he is guiding his son for the same while claiming that Ja was “demonised" and "misconstrued a whole lot" by the critics.
In addition, Tee also expressed his frustration at the media’s treatment, and told SiriusXM NBA Radio, "Ja is going to be the typical guy, the family guy." "He's going to be an inspiration to a lot. ... Wherever he's at. He's going to carry himself like a respectable guy. That's what it is and that's me talking for him because we have conversations. It's not like I'm an absent father saying something that I don't know," he further added.

While he was jogging back to the locker room, the young star shared a powerful message and said, “They thought it wasn’t going to happen again.”
Morant returned to the court after completing a 25-game suspension for brandishing a gun during an Instagram live session. In his return game, Morant put up a 34-point performance, while hitting eight assists, six rebounds, two steals, and one block.
