Australia concluded the first day of the fourth Test against India on top, thanks to Usman Khawaja’s brilliant century. This also was Khawaja’s first ton in India as he couldn’t reach the milestone in the previous three tours. Opening the innings, the 36-year-old batted incredibly well to evade the barrage of Indian bowlers and held one end for the visitors.
Khawaja paced his knock to perfection and took a slightly aggressive approach after a composed start. He batted through the day and anchored the Aussie batting effort as others played aggressively. Gradually, he found runs and converted a solid start into an important milestone. He ended Day 1 with a score of 104 in 251 balls, which included 15 boundaries.
Celebrating this gritty batting performance, fans took to social media and shared messages of praise for Khawaja. Many complimented the Islamabad-born for his concentration and determination against one of the best bowling attacks. While others pointed out his incredible skill.
