Former Indian cricketer made a bold prediction about Mumbai Indians icon Rohit Sharma as the date for the IPL 2025 mega auction is approaching. Notably, former MI skipper Sharma has been a hot discussion among fans and pundits ever since he was replaced by Hardik Pandya as the team’s skipper. There were several reports claiming that the relationship between Sharma and the team has reportedly deteriorated.
Many fans and experts urged the star opener to leave the side and join a new franchise in the upcoming season. Among this, former India batter Aakash Chopra made a shocking prediction and said that Sharma will leave the franchise next season. Chopra said that Sharma would be released and he might go to some other franchise in the trade window. The cricketer-turned-commentator said on his YouTube channel, “Anything can happen but I don’t think Rohit is going to be retained here. I don’t have any information but I feel Rohit will probably be released.”
Chopra added, “He might go to someone in the trade window, that’s a possibility that he doesn’t go to the auction, but if that doesn’t happen, he might be seen in the auction. I feel his journey at Mumbai Indians is over.”

As the date for the IPL 2025 mega auction is approaching, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan made a bold prediction for MI’s star opener Rohit Sharma. He said that there will be a bidding war for Sharma at the auction if he is released and most teams would want to acquire his services. Pathan told India TV, "Jung hogi jung. He brings one special thing with him and that is 'captaincy experience'. Every team will wish to have a captain like him.”
He added, "In the form of Rohit, they will get an Indian captain and therefore will be able to make good use of the Impact Player rule as having an overseas captain at times forces teams to keep him in the playing XI irrespective of his performance.”
