Heinrich Klaasen, the South African wicket-keeper batter, has withdrawn his name from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 due to a family emergency. The 33-year-old, who was slated to play for St Lucia Kings in the upcoming season of the CPL, set to begin from August 30 onwards, will be replaced by Tim Seifert from New Zealand.

Notably, as per the report from Cribuzz, St Lucia Kings have signed Heinrich Klaasen in June of this year ahead of the CPL 2024 draft before his withdrawal from the tournament. The South African has been a part of the CPL in the 2022 season with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, scoring 118 runs at a strike-rate of 137.20 with a fifty.

Over the last couple of years, the right-handed batter has become one of the most destructive hitters in white-ball cricket, smashing the bowlers at will. His absence will be quite hard for St Lucia Kings to work with, but they have signed quite an able replacement in Tim Seifert.

In another development around the CPL 2024, the Zimbabwean all-rounder, Sikandar Raza, took to his X account, confirming his unavailability for the entire season with the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots colours due to an undisclosed injury. He wrote,, “Gutted to be missing out on @CPL because of an injury. Wishing my brothers at St. Kitts and Nevis very best of luck for the tournament. Time to go home now”.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots are yet to announce the replacement of Sikandar Raza for the CPL 2024 season.
