The runners-up of the previous edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained their best five players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The five retentions of SRH included skipper Pat Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Talking about Heinrich Klaasen, the South African batter was the first retention for SRH ahead of the mega auction with the franchise securing his services for a whopping salary of INR 23 Crore.
IN IPL 2024, Heinrich Klaasen amassed 479 runs in 16 matches with a staggering strike rate of 171.07. He was a strength of SRH’s middle-order after Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma provided flying starts throughout the tournament. The South African cricketer also became the highest earner in the IPL 2025, getting a salary of INR 23 Crore, leaving players like Virat Kohli and Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 Crore each) behind.
Heinrich Klaasen's IPL salary breakdown
Heinrich Klaasen began his IPL career in 2018, after Rajasthan Royals (RR) bought him for INR 50 Lakh in the auction. However, he didn’t get many chances for RR and was sold to Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the same price ahead of IPL 2019. After playing just seven matches in two seasons, Klaasen didn’t feature in the cash-rich league for three years, before SRH acquired his services for INR 5.25 Crore ahead of IPL 2023. Now, the South African batter saw a huge hike in his IPL salary as SRH have retained for a whopping INR 23 Crore ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
Heinrich Klaasen played 16 matches in IPL 2024 including the league stages and the playoffs. With the overall salary of INR 5.25 Crore last season, the right-hander earned around 32.82 Lakh per match in IPL 2024. Now, there has been a huge hike in his IPL salary for the upcoming season. Klaasen will get INR 23 Crore for IPL 2025. As all teams will definitely play 14 matches in the league, Klaasen will get around INR 1.65 Crore for every match in IPL 2025 before the playoffs. However, if SRH make it into the final of IPL 2025, they will not play more than 17 matches in the entire season. According to this, Heinrich Klaasen will get around INR 1.35 Crore for every match.
