Former South Africa batter and one of the greats of the game, Herschelle Gibbs recently took a direct hit at former Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Taking a X (formerly Twitter), a fan asked Gibbs to give some batting advice to the Pakistan batter, who has been struggling off late, seeing the highly-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 ahead.
However, Gibbs acknowledged the fan’s request but denied on the face, citing language barrier to be the key issue. "Hey Gibbs, How about giving some suggestions to Babar Azam like you did back in 2021/2022 during PSL with Karachi Kings? I guess he won't deny your interference this time," the fan tweeted.
Language is an issue with babar: Herschelle Gibbs responds to fan’s query
After this, the South African great did not hold back and responded, writing, "Language is an issue with babar .. as you know his English isn't great so it's difficult to get points across to him". It is to be noted that this isn’t the first time that a current or former cricketer has questioned Babar Azam’s ability to communicate in English.
In the recently-concluded tri-nation series, Babar Azam looked out of touch. In the three matches, the star Pakistan batter made 62 runs. His form caught several eyeballs as his form is a major concern leading to Champions Trophy 2025, staled to begin on February 19. Since the ODI World Cup, the 30-year-old hasn’t been in a good rhythm, having been dropped out of the Test squad against England. In limited-overs cricket, Babar managed a couple of good starts but failed to capitalize on them.
