The Indian boxing contingent ended up winning six medals in the recently ended Boxing World Cup 2025 in Brazil. These six medals included one gold, one silver and four bronze. The campaign ended with Hitesh Gulia winning the gold on Saturday, April 5. With this, Gulia also became the first Indian boxer to clinch a gold in the Boxing World Cup.
Notably, Hitesh Gulia was given a walkover in the final in the men’s 70kg category as England’s Odel Kamara couldn’t make it to the ring due to an injury. Along with him, Abhinash Jamwal, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam, Manish Rathore, Sachin and Vishal also bagged medals for India in the 2025 Boxing World Cup.

Abhinash Jamwal was the second Indian to reach the final of an event in the 2025 Boxing World Cup. He reached the final of the 65 kg category. However, he couldn’t go past against the local favourite and had to settle for a silver after losing the final. Apart from that, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg), Manish Rathore (55kg), Sachin (60kg) and Vishal (90kg), also ended up winning bronze medals in their respective categories.
After the end of the tournament, India’s gold medalist, Hitesh Gulia reflected on his campaign at the Boxing World Cup. “The camp helped me learn a few tactical nuances that helped me a lot in the competition. This tournament has provided us fantastic exposure at the highest level and I am happy that I could grab the gold medal,” Gulia was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Notably, this was India’s first major outing in the boxing after the Paris Olympics in 2024. A total of 10 members were a part of the Indian contingent for the Boxing World Cup, out of which, six players ended up winning the medal.
