Former Memphis Grizzlies guard and free agent Dillon Brooks has been signed by the Houston Rockets. Brooks signed a four-year deal worth $80 million with the Rockets, which is believed to come through a sign-and-trade with Memphis. There were rumors ahead of the free agency of the former Grizzlies star joining Houston, and hence the deal is no surprise for the fans.

Brooks is coming off a down season with his former team and had an average of 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. Along with it, Brooks shot 39.6% from the field, including 32.6% from beyond the arc. Not only this, but Brooks performed even worse in the playoffs against the Lakers. However, Brook was one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and was named to the All-Defensive Second Team after the season.

Apart from Brooks, Houston signed Fred VanVleet on a three-year deal worth  $130 million. Fred was signed by the Raptors in 2016, and over time he became a steady scorer in his career of seven NBA seasons. The 29-year-old will earn about $525,000 per game for three seasons. Another report by ESPN states that the LA Clippers are acquiring Houston’s K.J. Martin in a trade for two future second-round draft picks. Martin, who was the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft out of IMG Academy, played 82 games last season, scoring 56.9 per cent from the field.

The Canadian basketball player has time and again found himself in hot waters, and his verbal spat with NBA great LeBron James in the second game of the Western Conference series is not hidden from anyone. However, it didn’t stop there, following the incident, Brooks had expressed his views about the NBA's career scoring leader. He had said, "I don't care, he's old. You know what I mean?" The 27-year-old ended his ties with Memphis Grizzlies on a sour note as the team announced that they won’t bring Brooks back.
