After winning the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, Team India will eye to dominate the longest format and secure a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, scheduled to take place in June next year. The Men in Blue returned to Test cricket after nearly eight months and went up to  defeat Bangladesh in the first Test  of the two-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, September 22.

This was an important win for the Rohit Sharma and Co. ahead of the long Test calendar ahead. While it was a positive start, Team India will aim to secure a place in the final for the third consecutive time and will eye to end the Test Championship quest this time around. For them to enter the final, they will have to get things right and a comprehensive Test win against Bangladesh is not the only solution.

What do Rohit Sharma and Co. need to do to qualify for WTC 2023-25 final?

The forthcoming Tests season would be crucial for India in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle as they will participate in nine more Test matches. India are currently ranked number one on the WTC 2023-25 standings with seven wins, two losses and one draw and a win percentage of 71.67.

Meanwhile, India qualified for the WTC 2023 final with 58.8 percentage and to keep their percentage above 60 this time, they need at least four wins along with a draw in one their matches. If the two-time WTC finalists manage to win five matches, it would boost their winning percentage to comparatively above 60.
