India after two consecutive wins in T20 WC 2022, lost to South Africa by 5 wickets on Sunday (October 30) and their hopes of finishing at top of the points table after that loss have diminished to an extent as South Africa might finish with 9 points and end up being the number-1 team in points table. Suryakumar Yadav's brilliant knock of 68 ended in vain against SA as the Proteas pair Markram-Miller went on to seal the game for them after an initial setback.

- PAK vs SA in Sydney on 3rd Nov, 1:30 PM
- SA vs NED in Adelaide on 6th Nov, 5:30 AM
- PAK vs BAN in Adelaide on 6th Nov, 9:30 AM
- IND vs ZIM in Melbourne on 6th Nov, 1:30 PM
If India can win their next two games against BAN & ZIM, then they can reach a maximum of 8 points in the table.
Now, only team which can go past 8 points in the table is South Africa as they can reach 9 points by defeating both PAK & NED in the group stage.
Thus, for India to finish on top off the points table in T20 WC 2022:
- India must win their next two matches against Bangladesh & Zimbabwe.
- Pakistan (or) Netherlands must beat South Africa in the group stage.
If the above mentioned scenario happens, then India with 8 points can top the table as South Africa will remain at 7 points only after 1 loss.
