The exclusion of Sanju Samson from the upcoming three-match ODI series has stirred a lot of debates among cricket fans and few experts. Hence in this article, we will see how Samson's career panned out in the ODIs so far.
Sanju Samson made his ODI debut in 2021 tour of Sri Lanka in what was a dead rubber game (3rd ODI match) where many new faces were tried under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan.
In 2022 many Indian players who went onto be in contention for the T20 World Cup, didn't play any ODI matches that year. Hence, Sanju Samson was seen playing the three-match ODI series against West Indies in July, three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in August and a three-match ODI series against South Africa in October.
Post T20 WC 2022, once again Sanju Samson got an opportunity to play an ODI game against New Zealand in November, where the senior players were rested. Thereafter in 2023, he got to play only two ODI matches against West Indies under Hardik Pandya's captaincy as Rohit and Kohli were rested this time.
