The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the prize money for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 champions and runners-up. PSL is all set to return with its 10th edition on April 11. Defending champions Islamabad United (IU) will host Lahore Qalandars (LQ) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, in the opening game of the tournament. The competition will deliver 34 matches to its viewers from April 11 to May 18. The final will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. This year, PSL’s fixture is colliding with the Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule.

Before the start of their annual franchise T20 event, the PCB has revealed that the champions of the PSL 2025 will be the recipient of USD 5,00,000 (around PKR 145 million) while the runners-up will get USD 2,00,000 (around PKR 56 million). Six teams will lock horns against one another in the tournament, which will be be played for 38 days, beginning on April 11, with the final slated to take place in Lahore on May 18.

Shadab Khan will be seen leading the reigning champions Islamabad United (IU) while Babar Azam will hold the captaincy mantle of Peshawar Zalmi (PZ). Mohammad Rizwan will be the in-charge of Multan Sultans (MS). Shaheen Shah Afridi will hold the reins of Lahore Qalandars (LQ). Former Australia opener David Warner will be the only overseas captain in the tournament as the Aussie has replaced Shan Masood as skipper of Karachi Kings (KK). Saud Shakeel will captain Quetta Gladiators (QG) in the Pakistan Super League 2025 season.

Islamabad United will chase their fourth PSL title under Shadab Khan

Islamabad United will endeavour to start their tournament confidently with a victory against Lahore Qalandars in the opening match in Rawalpindi. In 2024, Shadab led Islamabad to their third trophy win after beating the Rizwan-led Multan Sultans in the final of the edition.

The triumph made Islamabad the most-successful side in the league as they are the only team to win three trophies in the T20 tournament. Against Lahore in Rawalpindi, Islamabad will heavily rely on their strong batting unit as they have excellent strikers of the ball such as Sahibzada Farhan, Colin Munro, Salman Ali Agha, Azam Khan, and captain himself.
