Pakistan’s loss against Zimbabwe at the T20 World Cup 2022 is not going to be forgotten for a long time. A team that played in the semifinals last year could not chase 131 and lost the match by one run. This loss has left everyone in Pakistan shattered. From fans to former cricketers to experts, everyone is furious about this defeat as it has seriously dented Pakistan’s qualification chances for the semifinals.
While some are blaming the players for not standing up to the challenge, some are holding the team management accountable. Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has also expressed his disappointment at this shocking defeat. Akhtar looked furious when talking about the game as he called the loss “embarrassing”. He criticized almost everyone involved - players, management, selectors, and Pakistan Cricket Board.
The former cricketer looked more frustrated with the management and PCB as he pointed out the suggestions he had shared before the team was selected. He also pointed out that it’s the former players who have to answer the questions from the media. “It’s really really embarrassing. Ultimately, it’s not for your but we have to face the media. We have to sit in India. We have to give answers to the world. What answers can we give now?”, said Akhtar on his YouTube channel.
“It’s horrifying, terrible, disappointing. Allah hi haafiz hai aapka. Average person can only be expected to take average decision: selection committee – average person. Management — average. Team – average. Performance – below average."
“Select more naalayak log (useless people). Don’t let in good people. This is what will happen. Bus roti khaa rahen, no planning.. this is what happens once you don’t bring brilliant minds into play. It’s sad and disappointing.”
