One of the greats of the game of cricket and former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has once again addressed his retirement rumours. His latest statement came after the speculations hit the roof after CSK’s third successive defeat in the ongoing edition of the IPL with his family, especially his parents also in attendance at the Chepauk.

To add more fire, MS Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Singh was also seen seen saying to their daughter Ziva that it is “last match”. But recently, the 43-year-old, who is seen donning the yellow jersey for the Chennai-based franchise in a podcast with Raj Shamani, addressed his retirement rumours.

No, not right now: MS Dhoni shuts down retirement rumours amid IPL 2025

The former India and CSK skipper clarified that he is curently playing the tournament and will take it year by year. He also added that by the time IPL 2025 ends, he’ll be 44 and then he’ll have another 10 months to decide on his future. "No, not right now. I am still playing the IPL. I have kept it very simple, I take it one year at a time, I am 43, by the time IPL 2025 finishes, I will be 44, so after that I have 10 months to decide if I would play or not,” MS Dhoni said.

“But it is not me deciding, it is my body that decides. So, one year at a time, we will see after that," Dhoni further added. While his came a day after he stitched a crucial partnership with Vijay Shankar, but the duo could not help the side cross the line, the CSK head coach Stephen Fleming also addressed the rumours.

“I have no idea. I’m just enjoying working with him still. He is still going strong. I don’t even ask (about his future) these days,” Fleming said. "I can play for as long as I want for CSK. That's my franchise. Even if I'm in a wheelchair, they'll drag me," Dhoni has earlier said while speaking on JioHotstar.

Speaking of the stalwart, the 43-year-old has so far managed to amass 76 runs in the four matches he has featured for CSK in IPL 2025. While his highest score has come to be 30*, he has smashed at a strike rate of 138.18 and an average of 76. He will return to action when the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side take on Punjab Kings on Tuesday, April 8 in Mullanpur.
