Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman lashed out at a journalist who questioned wicketkeeping-batter Azam Khan’s selection in the T20I squad. Khan had a poor outing in the second T20I against England and could only come up with just 11 runs in 10 balls. The match resulted in a 23-run defeat of the Babar Azam-led side by a margin of 23 runs. Despite his poor form off late, Khan has prompted the selectors to give him a chance in the national squad owing to his outstanding performances in tournaments like PSL, CPL, and other leagues.
Zaman came in defence of Khan when a journalist questioned his place in the team. He told Zaman that other players should be given a chance over ‘unfit’ Khan and said that the wicketkeeper made it to the team on the basis of recommendations. The question left Zaman puzzled and he slammed the journo for his offensive remarks.
I can say you came here by recommendation: Fakhar Zaman slams journalist for questioning Khan’s spot
Fakhar slammed the journalist and said that Khan made it to the team based on his performance in leagues like CPL. Not only this, but the 34-year-old also told the reporter to do some research before making such offensive remarks about cricketers. He said, “If you make a team, don’t pick him. The team is generally picked by Gary Kirsten and Babar Azam along with a few selectors.”
“What you said is disrespectful towards a player. You should consider how he has found himself a spot in the team. It is due to his performance in the CPL, that Khan has been picked. You should do some research before coming. I can also say that you came here by recommendation,” he further added.
