Australian batting star and former skipper Steve Smith revealed that he gets annoyed by Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on the field. Notably, India and Australia are set to clash against each other in the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy in the month of November-December. The first match of the five-match series will be played at the Opus Stadium in Perth from November 22. Notably, India took down their Aussie rivals in the 2023 season by 2-1 and are defending the prestigious trophy.
Ahead of the anticipated tournament, the Aussies shared some interesting thoughts on their Indian counterparts including batter Steve Smith. Smith revealed that he finds Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja annoying. Smith, along with Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon engaged in a light-hearted interaction with Star Sports, where Smith and Hazlewood were asked to reveal the name of the most annoying players in the Indian dressing room.
I find Ravindra Jadeja annoying because…: Steve Smith
The former Aussie captain named Indian ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the most annoying player on the field. Smith revealed that he finds Jadeja annoying because of how good he is. He said, “I get annoyed by Jadeja on the field just because he’s a very good player. He always finds a way to get in the battle, whether it’s scoring runs, taking wickets, or making a great catch. It can be a bit annoying at times, but he’s a very good player.”
Josh Hazlewood also backed Smith’s choice and said, “Probably Jadeja again.” Notably, in 17 Tests that he has played against Australia, Jadeja has scored 570 runs in 23 innings at an average of 28.50 with five fifties and best score of 81. In Australia, he has scored 175 runs in five innings at an average of 43.75 with two fifties. Jadeja has scalped a total of 89 wickets against Australia in Tests with 14 of them coming in Australia.
On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne named Rishabh Pant as the most amusing player in the Indian side. He said, “Triggered. I am going to save that for later, otherwise, I will have a whole lot of whole bunch of Indian players coming after me. But the one I always find the most amusing is Rishabh Pant. He is always funny, a great laugh and plays the game in the right spirit.”
