After proving his metal in T20 format, India’s middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav is aiming to make a debut in the Test format. In a year-old international career, Suryakumar Yadav has quickly climbed to fame, courtesy of his swashbuckling batting style and is currently the number one T20I batter in the world.

However, ‘SKY,' who has been added in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad for the game against Hyderabad, revealed his intentions to play red-ball cricket at international stage. While addressing the media ahead of his Ranji match, Surya said that he dreams of playing Test cricket by claiming it the ‘most elite’ format.

"Yes, obviously, I have always dreamt of playing Tests for India as well. When you start playing cricket for your state, you start with the red ball. Gradually you get into the white-ball team, I feel that is the best format of the game, and I really enjoy playing it,” Suryakumar Yadav said.

He further recalled that when he started playing age group cricket and the Ranji Trophy, he used to only play red-ball cricket. "My white-ball exploit came later. The red-ball format is very close to my heart. I really enjoy playing it," he added.

When asked if he has expressed his wish to play Test cricket with head coach Rahul Dravid, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the legendary batter suggested him to curtail few strokes.

"I remember that in the Test series against New Zealand (last year), when I was batting in the nets in Kanpur. He told me that to curtail a few strokes. He suggested me to be myself. Rahul sir told me that scoring run is crucial in Test format. Just keep things simple and enjoy what you are doing," Yadav revealed.
