Manish Pandey is the one name that has done so many rounds over the years. The first Indian batter to smash a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was expected to do wonders in the shortest format of the game if not the longest, but it never happened. A few good innings came but in patches, doing no good for the batter.
Pandey who was once touted as the future of India in white-ball cricket, suddenly faded away from the scenes and his dipping numbers were the prime reason behind that. Not only at the international level, but at the domestic level as well, Pandey could not leave the desired impact. In IPL, he moved from franchise to franchise but the story remained the same for Pandey.
From KKR to SRH to LSG, the batter struggled to find his best touch and now he stands on the brink of getting ignored. After a mediocre IPL 2022, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) also decided to not take any risk and release the player. But as is the case with IPL teams, they do communicate their decision to players before an official announcement. But Pandey claims nothing like that happened to him.
Pandey has claimed that he was never contacted by the LSG management about their decision to release him. “No, I never got a call. I just got to know about it on the day the list was announced. There was no real communication, but yeah that’s alright,” said Pandey while speaking to Sportskeeda.
“As players, you have to be ready. Because if you are not playing a lot of games, I understand from LSG’s point of view that they wanted to release me and get some extra money in the kitty for some other players or whatever the plan is,” he added.
