Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed issued an apology after engaging in a verbal spat with Asad Shafiq. Ahmed and Shafiq had a verbal altercation during a Sindh Premier League match at National Bank Arena in Karachi on Wednesday (January 31). Ahmed is a part of Karachi Ghazi in the tournament whereas Shafiq is plying his trade for Larkana Challengers. During the game between the two teams, Ahmed pulled a fiery celebration towards Asad after dismissing him.
The former Pakistan Test batter didn’t like Ahmed’s actions and walked up to confront him. Things soon escalated further and the players had to be stopped by the on-field officials along with the fielders. The incident soon went viral on social media, and the all-rounder was slammed for his behaviour.

I shouldn’t have reacted: Ahmed issues apology for his on-field behaviour
The 33-year-old apologised for his behaviour during the clash between Karachi Ghazi and Larkana Challengers. In his apology, Ahmed said that he shouldn’t have behaved the way he did during the game, and admitted that he got carried away in the heat of the moment. Ahmed tweeted, "I am extremely apologetic for my behaviour in the field today. I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did in the heat of the moment.”
He added, “I’ve apologized to @asadshafiq1986 Bhai in person after the match & have always held great regards for him. We have played a lot of cricket together.” Not only this, this wasn’t the first time that Ahmed grabbed headlines for his behaviour on the field. Earlier during the series against New Zealand, Ahmed lashed out at a fan for calling him ‘Chachu’.
