Amidst numerous rumours about Kylian Mbappe leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Madrid, the French star has denied all those claims via a social media tweet. It was reported that he would trigger the one-year extension in his current contract with PSG.
Madrid was reportedly the player's top choice if he decided to leave PSG this summer. According to additional sources, Mbappe's camp was in frequent contact with Madrid President Florentino Perez, and the two had re-established contact.
But the World Cup winner has straightaway put a full stop to all these rumours through his latest tweet which included an article by ‘Le Parisien’ which referred to him going to the Bernabeu. He mentioned the article and captioned the post, “Lies, I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy.”
However, PSG continues to face a problem because Mbappe is now scheduled to leave the team as a free agent at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season and will be allowed to negotiate a contract with his suitors in just six months' time. According to the club sources, Mbappe, who is perhaps the most valuable football player won't be permitted to depart for free next summer.
In part because Karim Benzema moved to Saudi Arabia, it is believed that Real Madrid is eager to rekindle its interest in Mbappe. Although it was before the Frenchman's statement about his future, club President Florentino Perez was recently caught on camera stating his plans to recruit Mbappe in the future.
The French superstar had a stellar season with PSG, as he scored 34 goals in just 29 games in the Ligue 1. He was also the leading goal-scorer in the France based league. He gave an outstanding performance in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored seven goals in eight games.
