Ahead of the first Test match between India and England women's teams, Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has expressed the desire to play in a global Test tournament like the ICC Men's World Test Championship. Mandhana was speaking in a press conference as the Women in Blue gear up for their first Test at home since 2014.
India Women played their last red-ball game in July 2021 in England at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol which ended as a draw. Two years later in 2023, the Indian team is set to play two Test matches against England and Australia in Mumbai over the coming months.

Coming back to Smriti Mandhana, Speaking in a press conference, the Indian opener spoke about possibly playing a World Test Championship-esque tournament. She also revealed how the entire is excited to play the Test match as they received their whites today.
As quoted by the New Indian Express, Mandhana said, "Having watched a lot of Men’s Test cricket and the World Test Championship, I would definitely want to play in the Test Championship. Most of our players got their whites today. There’s a lot of excitement in the group."
