Veteran India opener Shikhar Dhawan opened up after being snubbed from the Asian Games squad. Dhawan, who now remains a staple in the Indian Premier League, broke his silence on being dropped of the Indian colours lately. However, the veteran has backed Suryakumar Yadav to succeed the No. 4 position in the Indian line-up.

Dhawan, while speaking in an exclusive interaction with the PTI said, “I would go with Surya at four as he is an experienced player and has been playing international cricket for a while.” It is to be noted that talk around the No. 4 comes with Shreyas Iyer’s fitness in doubt.
The 37-year-old also opined that Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will be the players to look out for in the ODI World. “Really looking forward to seeing how Shubman Gill does in World Cup. Another batter to watch out for will be Rohit Sharma as he did exceptionally well in the last World Cup,” Dhawan added.
Earlier Ravichandran Ashwin had also opened up on his stance and believes that youngster Tilak Varma could be a good choice for the Men in Blue, seeing the World Cup coming ahead.

Cricket which is making a return to Asian Games after 11 years, will be played from 23 September till 8 October in Hangzhou, China. However, as the BCCI named the squad for the continental multi-sport event, one notable miss from the squad was Shikhar Dhawan. The Indian batter, who has been out of Team India’s scheme of things, finally opened up on being left out of the Asian Games squad.
He said, “When my name was not there, I was a bit shocked. But then, I was like they have a different thought process, you just have to accept it.”
