The Indian women's blind cricket team made history on Saturday, August 26, by winning the gold medal in the rain-curtailed final of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games 2023 in Birmingham. India beat Australia in the finals by a margin of nine wickets as they comfortably chased the revised target of 43 in 3.3 overs.

After losing the toss, India successfully held Australia to a meagre score of 114/8 in their complete 20 overs. Australia’s innings never got going, as they were moving at a slow pace, scoring just 29 runs in the powerplay. Wickets for India in the middle overs further slowed down the Australian innings, but C Lewis and C Welbeck managed to form a 54-run partnership to guide the Australians to a respectable total.

India's target was revised to 42 runs due to the rain interruption, and India's batswomen wasted no time in chasing down the modest total, reaching 43/1 in just 3.3 overs. India dominated the Australian bowlers with their aggression and sealed a comprehensive nine-wicket victory. The Women in Blue had earlier defeated England by 153 runs and Australia by 8 wickets in the league stage. India had 12 points from 4 games, while both England and Australia had 3 points each.
