Delhi Capitals are surely not having the Indian Premier League of their dreams, where the Warner-led side spent most of the tournament by sitting at the bottom of the table. Their seventh loss of the season came during their clash against Chennai Super Kings, where the Dhoni-led side displayed dominance and brushed aside their opponents by 27 runs. Despite their best efforts, the team hasn’t been able to perform with the best of their capabilities, and it is the reason behind the disappointment behind each DC squad member, including head coach, Ricky Ponting.

Addressing the dressing room post their seventh defeat in the ongoing tournament, Ponting expressed his disappointment and told the squad members to work harder.

The former Australian cricketer also asked the team to analyse their performance, train better and play better cricket. When he asked the team to work harder, he also put a light on how the next ten days are going to be a challenge for the team. Not only this, he expressed his disappointment with his IPL squad, but also asked the team to give the best shot. He said, "We have got a big challenge for the next ten days together. All right? You can hear from me. I'm disappointed too. Sun comes up in the morning, we go back home, we train & prepare, and we give it our best shot. A couple of days on, that's all we can do."

He further said, “I know we have lost early wickets and I know it was difficult. I know they bowled well. Yeah, we accept that. But, if we are going to go forward in the tournament, we’ve got in areas like that and moments like that. We have got to be a bit better. We have got to take it on the chin. We have got to accept that, because I reckon the mood around the group for the last few weeks has been outstanding. Everyone’s disappointed, and rightly so. There’s only one way forward, and that’s to keep your chins up.”

Notably, after winning two games consequently, the Delhi-based team lost their last clash against the four-time IPL winners, Chennai Super Kings. They will now lock horns with Punjab Kings in their upcoming fixture on May 13, Saturday.
