After the news about Indian opening batter Shubman Gill suffering dengue ahead of the team's first ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match against Australia, the Men in Blue have been dealt another big blow. Information about all-rounder Hardik Pandya being hit on his finger Team in India's net session on October 5 surfaced.

The development was shared by journalist Subhayan Chakraborty, who tweeted about Pandya being hurt on his finger and then not batting again. But Chakraborty also revealed that Pandya's injury wasn't serious. The tweet said, "Also, Hardik Pandya was hit on his finger while batting at the nets yesterday. Though he didn't bat after that, there's nothing to worry about. Hardik will be a key player for India in this #CWC2."

Coming back to Shubman Gill, the Indian opener went down with dengue and missed  India's training sessions at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday. Here the team management hoped Gill's illness to be nothing more than flu, but that was not to be the case as per Cricinfo.

"He is under the weather," the official update from BCCI had said. "The medical team is closely monitoring him. We are hoping he gets better soon."

Gill has been Team India's leading run-getter in 50-over cricket throughout 2023 with 1230 runs at an average of 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03. In his last four ODIs, Gill has scored two centuries and a half-century, two of those knocks coming against Sunday's opponents, Australia.
