India defeated South Africa by 16 runs in a high-scoring thriller in the 2nd T20I match at Guwahati and sealed another three-match bilateral T20I series, having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.

While Proteas captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and asked India to bat first, the hosts posted a huge total of 237/3 on the board with the help of a solid opening partnership from Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul (57).

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav's sensational fifty (61) completely changed the complexion of the game as his knock gave no chance whatsoever to the opposition. In addition, Virat Kohli also played a crucial part in finishing the game along with Dinesh Karthik as he remained unbeaten on 49.

In the run-chase, Proteas initially lost the plot completely as they lost their skipper Temba Bavuma and Rilee Rossouw for ducks but later they managed to end their innings with a score of 221/3 riding on an unbeaten 174-run partnership for the 4th wicket between David Miller (106*) and Quinton de Kock (69).

Aiden Markram also contributed with a quickfire 33 before losing his wicket to Axar Patel and among all bowlers, only Deepak Chahar looked effective with an economy of 6.00 when the rest of the Indian bowlers conceded more than 10 runs an over.
