India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been admitted to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh after he received a nasty blow on his head during the second T20I match of the three-match series against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala.
The incident took place during the fourth over of India's chase when a short-pitch delivery from Lahiru Kumara caught the Mumbai Indians star by surprise as he could not react in time to get out of the way of the ball. Consequently, the 146 kmph ball hit the helmet and Kishan fell down. The physio came running to check on the left-handed batter after which he even resumed batting but got out for 16 runs off 15 deliveries after falling a couple of overs later.
"I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought here in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation," a doctor was quoted as saying in an ANI report.
In addition, it is being learnt that Sri Lankan batter Dinesh Chandimal has also been taken to the hospital after he sustained a thumb injury while fielding.

"A Sri Lankan player has also been admitted in the hospital, after receiving a thumb injury in the second T20I. We are monitoring everything right now," the same doctor added.
While the Sri Lankan cricketer's checkup is only a precautionary measure, Kishan had some discomfort post which the hospitalisation has happened.
As far as the cricketing action is concerned, Shreyas Iyer was in sensational form in the second T20I as he registered his highest career score of 74 from 44 deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja, who came in ahead of Venkatesh Iyer, also joined the party to score 45 runs off 18 balls as the Men in Blue chased down their target of 184 with 17 balls remaining. The Rohit Sharma-led side have thus taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with the final fixture set to happen this evening.
