Former England batter Kevin Pietersen has made a bold claim saying that India have found their Rishabh Pant replacement. Pant is currently undergoing recovery and rehabilitation following a fatal accident in December 2022 and is missing out of action from the popular cash-rich Indian Premier League. There’s no doubt in the fact that Pant plays a key role and has a major contribution in the Indian national team in all the formats of the game.
Writing in his column in Betway, Kevin has said that Punjab Kings’ Jitesh Sharma is ready to replace Pant in the Indian team. He also said that Sharma is a promising talent, and the selectors can think of giving him a chance if Pant is expected to stay out for too long. He wrote, “ I ndia have their Rishabh Pant replacement. Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper from Punjab Kings, is also something special. I think he could be the guy who takes over from Rishabh Pant for India, if Pant is out for a while longer. His 25 off seven balls, including four sixes, against Mumbai on Saturday was match winning."
Sharma has come into spotlight since the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League after he hit 234 runs as a keeper-batter with a strike rate of 163.34. In his recent innings against Mumbai Indians, the young star played sensational innings as a finisher, hitting four sixes in his 7-ball innings.
